Social-ecological transformation and nonviolent action

Review: Annual meeting 2022

We wanted to provide members, active in social movements and all interested parties with a framework to deal intensively with the role of social movements in societal transformation processes, as well as the various possibilities of effective, nonviolent forms of action for a social-ecological transformation and to stimulate reflection on their own practice with new impulses.

• Dr. Michael Neuber is a motion researcher at the Technical University of Berlin and a member of the Institute for Protest and Motion Research. The focus of his work is on the exploration of cultural practice of social movements, with particular reference to environmental movements and populist mobilization.
• Dr. Sarah Köhler is a lecturer at the Ecumenical Workstation Anthropocene in the Ecumenical Process "Return to Life – Making Change". She wants to rethink theology in the anthropocene age and stimulate a new, transformative Christian practice.

The war in Ukraine once again shows us how the dependence on fossil fuels such as gas and coal and global power structures shape political action and influence our lives. Being solidified with the people affected by wars also means making power relations visible in Germany, changing and fighting for a social-ecological transformation.
